This lawsuit seeks to recover unpaid wages for Exotic Dancers who worked at the Vanity Grand Caberet located on Passyunk Avenue in Philadelphia. The dancers allege that Vanity Grand violated federal and state law by classifying them as independent contractors and then failing to pay them minimum wages and making improper deductions to their compensation.

APR 27, 2017

Today, our firm started a class and collective action lawsuit by filing a Complaint against SRM Enterprises, LLC in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. SRM Enterprises operates the Vanity Grand Cabaret exotic dance club located on Passyunk Avenue in Philadelphia. The Complaint alleges that Vanity Grand violated the Fair Labor Standards Act, Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act, and Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law by classifying the exotic dancers as "independent contractors" and then failing to pay them minimum wage of $7.25 for each hour worked as well as making improper deductions to their compensation through various fees and fines. Today, lawyers for Vanity Grand filed a motion requesting that the federal judge send this case to private arbitration and arguing that the Dancers are not allowed to have their claims decided by a jury in federal court. A copy of the Motion is available below.

Today, the federal judge issued an order requiring this lawsuit to be resolved through private arbitration. As a result of this order, the case will be decided by a private arbitrator selected by the parties. A copy of the order is available below.
